Radon Mitigation - Osceola, IA
This home will have a 2-point system in the corner of the basement near the shower. There are two some bits. One is on the far side of the basement that needs to be sealed up with a dome cover and the second one is on the right hand side of the basement that needs to be sealed up with plexiglass. This is due to the fact that it is smaller. Homeowner is looking to finish the majority of his basement at some point in time so is looking for an attraction point to come out of the sump with the black cover and second extraction point in and around that corner area due to elevated right on levels. The homeowner is primarily worried about upcoming health concerns if he doesn't act on radon now.

This will be a 2-point system one of which is running from the sump in the utility room. A line that needs to be run to the other side of the utility room and through the joists on the right hand side. Rusty - Team Leader did let the homeowner know that worst case scenario we might need to cut through the drywall in order to fasten the pipe. The homeowner said that it would be fine as he had a drywall coming to finish part of his house in a few weeks. This client was really fun to work with, he was really flexible and understood what's best for his home even if it comes with additional extractions to install his system.

This installation was for a young couple that bought their first home. The amazing thing about their story is they had it tested for radon first before moving in. The results turned in 5.5 pCi/L and the home was just built early this year. They wanted the system to be installed in the basement since it's still in the process of finishing. It was not that hard and everything went well!

This mitigation project was for a farmhouse that was immediately confirmed with a deposited cheque. During discussions with the homeowners, Mike and his wife, various options were explored for the old farmhouse with three chambers. They decided on placing the extraction point on the east side, near the white barn, and expressed interest in duct cleaning after the system is installed. Considering the furnace location's half wall, potential extraction point adjustments were discussed. The homeowners changed their preferences, and flexibility was assured, with the installation crew ready to provide advice during the process.

These clients just learned of their radon elevated levels of 11.8 in basement with two chambers, plus a concrete crawlspace that's 27'x40'. It's an old home with a narrow sump pit. The plan was to block the wall dividing basement and sub slab on either side of wall, core through block low, then go up and route between floor joists to enter crawlspace and have third extraction point. Exit crawlspace on far right back corner below office. Exit through rim joist and place fan on back side of house with fan cover. They added a Breathe EZ filter for extra protection.
