Radon Mitigation Before Winter Starts

This client's family members were determined to create a safe home for their family after discovering high radon levels in their home, it was around 25 pCi/L. They set clear goals: reduce radon exposure, ensure a healthy environment, and increase property value before the year ends or winter officially starts. Radon Defense Midwest team guided them through the process, explaining each step. With a professional installation completed, the family gave happy feedback as they received confirmation of reduced levels after a few days. It was a duplex home that needed help with radon mitigation. The home tested for radon and returned with high levels. Client was eager to mitigate since he is really worried for his family especially with the kids. The team has drafted a one point system stack next to the washer and dryer in the home's basement behind the bathroom wall and then it will be up and out the home near the air conditioning -- just how the client pictures it. Everything went well! 

This is a two point system due to elevated radon levels. One point in the unfinished room and the second on the other side of the dividing wall in the closet. Home owners were to move a couple totes and Santas where the extraction point can be straight down. These are the only unfinished areas in the basement with limited outside options. The complicated part is where to put the fan outside. Homeowner has three pieces of the deck outside that can be lifted up for access. Only other option is coring out through the deck right next to wood which homeowner said would be okay. The project specialist suggested that it would be to the left side of the window on the deck. The client agreed as there wasn't much a better choice. It turned out great!

The client is a physical therapist and likes the outdoors. He has an unfinished basement with two different crawlspaces. He has access to one through a window in the basement and the other has an opening into the second crawlspace. They're about 3 feet in height and the walls have spray foam insulation on them. It was not much of a challenge but there was some work done for the first extraction point to begin with. The client was really kind in helping clear out the debris in the crawlspaces after installation. He was really happy with how the system turned out.

This was a genuinely nice woman to talk to, really calm. It was a straightforward radon mitigation system to install and nothing too shabby. She was really interested in how it works to protect her health and home. We originally quoted her 4 years ago and she wasn't ready. After a period of talking through her peers and family, she gave in and decided to get her own.
