Radon Mitigation in an Older Country Home with Open Basement Layout
This recently purchased older country home came with some familiar challenges; an open-concept basement, a large concrete shelf crack, and even exposed soil beneath an oil burner in the back room. While the homeowner chose to move forward with radon mitigation, they understood there would be no guaranteed radon levels due to the structure's condition. The Design Specialist designed a 2-point radon mitigation system to suit the home's layout. Because of the basement’s open design, the exact placement of extraction points wasn’t critical, giving our team the flexibility to maximize airflow and efficiency. The system will exit out the back of the home, which aligned well with the homeowner’s preference for discreet installation. This setup may not offer level guarantees, but it still provides radon reduction and peace of mind in an aging home, making it a smart step toward a safer indoor environment.
