ERV Installation - Lorimor, IA
ERV Installation in Old Farmhouse With Radon Levels of 7 and No HVAC System
This old farmhouse tested at 7 pCi/L, with multiple basement chambers and a large cistern, making airflow and radon control more complex. With no furnace or ductwork and only a boiler, improving indoor air quality required a different approach. An ERV system was installed along the west wall to bring in fresh air and reduce radon buildup. One vent exits through the rim joist at the front of the home, while the second will be cored through the foundation for proper airflow balance. This setup supports steady ventilation and helps lower radon levels in a structure without traditional HVAC.
